Ciao amici affamati 🥖🌿Tucked near the Pantheon in the heart of Rome, All’Antico Vinaio lives up to the hype. Originally from Florence and now beloved across Italy (and even abroad), this sandwich shop isn’t just popular, it’s iconic. After my visit to their Rome location, I totally understand why.
I arrived to find a joyful crowd lining Via della Maddalena, steps from the Pantheon. The scent of warm Tuscan schiacciata bread, creamy cheese, and roasted fillings filled the air. You don’t just get a sandwich here, you get an experience!
🥪 What We Ordered
We ordered three different panini, each one indulgent, unforgettable, and served on their signature schiacciata bread (crispy on the outside, soft inside, baked fresh daily).
⭐ PARADISE (Mortadella, pistachio cream, stracciatella cheese, and chopped pistachios)
This one lived up to its name: rich, velvety, and perfectly balanced. The mortadella was tender, the pistachio cream was nutty and luscious, and the stracciatella just melted into it all. The chopped pistachios added the perfect crunch.

⭐ THE TRICOLOR (Beef carpaccio, pistachio cream, stracciatella cheese, and chopped hazelnuts)
A bolder, more refined bite. The carpaccio was silky, the pistachio and hazelnut combo added texture and depth, and the stracciatella tied it all together with indulgent creaminess. If you’re feeling adventurous, this is the one.

⭐ MAMA (Cooked ham, burrata, roasted potato cream, and zucchini)
Comfort food with elegance. The burrata was impossibly creamy, the roasted potato cream gave it a cozy richness, and the zucchini brought freshness. It felt like a warm hug in sandwich form.

The Vibe
There’s no table service here, just a cheerful, fast-moving counter where staff take your order with energy and personality. You’ll hear names being called, schiacciata being sliced, and panini being stacked with practiced flair. The line moves quickly, and the energy is electric, part hungry anticipation, part street-food excitement, all Roman joy.

The smell of freshly baked bread. The buzz of people laughing nearby. Church bells in the distance. That perfect breeze. It wasn’t just a lunch break, it was a memory in the making!
Final Thoughts
All’Antico Vinaio is more than just a place to eat, it’s a reminder that some of life’s best moments are wrapped in paper and best enjoyed outside, surrounded by history and sunshine. Every sandwich we tried was layered, generous, and made with purpose. The ingredients aren’t just fresh, they’re thoughtful. From pistachio cream to roasted potato to that unbelievable bread, every detail is crafted for pure satisfaction.
If you’re in Rome, especially near the Pantheon, this spot should absolutely be on your list. Come hungry, come curious, and be ready to fall in love, one bite at a time.
xoxo,
Bubbly 💖
