You’ll be amazed by the contrast between the historic grandeur of the palace and the sleek, modern glass pyramid that marks the entrance to the museum. Fun fact: this glass pyramid was designed by architect I. M. Pei and is now one of the most recognizable symbols of Paris!
Once inside, you’ll be swept away by the sheer scale of the museum. With over 35,000 works on display (and even more in storage!), it’s impossible to see everything in one visit. The Mona Lisa, of course, is a must-see. Despite the crowds, there’s something thrilling about seeing Leonardo da Vinci’s famous portrait in person. Her enigmatic smile really does captivate! Just a tip: visit early or late in the day to avoid the biggest rush of people around the Mona Lisa.

As I wandered through the Louvre, I found myself drawn to some of the museum’s most famous pieces, as well as a few hidden gems. One of my absolute favorites was the Venus de Milo, the ancient Greek statue that still radiates beauty and grace despite being over 2,000 years old. I also spent time admiring the Winged Victory of Samothrace, a majestic sculpture that feels almost alive, as if it’s soaring in motion.
Beyond these iconic works, there are so many other collections to explore – from Egyptian antiquities to Islamic art. The Napoleon III Apartments were a real surprise—if you’re into grand interiors and imagining life in 19th-century Paris, these rooms are a must-see!

- Best Times to Visit: The Louvre can get crowded, so try to visit early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the peak hours. The museum is open every day except Tuesday, and on Wednesdays and Fridays, it stays open late—perfect for a more relaxed visit.
- Tickets: You can purchase tickets online in advance to skip the line at the entrance. A standard adult ticket costs around €22, and entry is free for visitors under 18, and EU residents under 26. Bonus: on the first Saturday of each month, the museum is free in the evening!
