Sailing to Alaska with Princess Cruises: My Ruby Princess Adventure

by Bubbly

Hello, fellow adventurers! 🌟 It’s your bubbly buddy from BubblyLiving, and I’m beyond excited to share my latest travel escapade—an unforgettable Alaskan cruise aboard the Ruby Princess! If you’ve ever dreamed of exploring the majestic landscapes of Alaska, this cruise is the perfect way to do it. Ready to hear all about my journey? Let’s set sail!

The Ruby Princess: A Floating Oasis

The Ruby Princess is a beautiful, modern ship that offers a perfect blend of luxury and comfort. Launched in 2008, this 113,561-ton vessel can accommodate up to 3,080 guests, making it a mid-sized ship within the Princess fleet. The ship features 19 decks, a wide array of dining options, multiple pools, a luxurious spa, and fantastic entertainment venues, ensuring there’s something for everyone on board.

The Luxurious Owner’s Suite

We opted for the Owner’s Suite, and let me tell you, it was the epitome of luxury! The Owner’s Suite offers around 687 to 777 square feet of space, including a separate sitting area, a spacious bedroom with a queen-size bed, and a luxurious bathroom with a whirlpool tub and shower. The suite also features a walk-in closet, a refrigerator with a wet bar, two flat-screen televisions and a large private balcony, perfect for enjoying the stunning Alaskan scenery. Additionally, it includes a sofa bed, providing extra sleeping space for guests. Waking up to the sight of glaciers and mountain ranges from our own private balcony was simply magical.

Dining Delights

One of the highlights of my cruise was the fantastic dining options on board. The Ruby Princess offers a wide variety of restaurants, each with its own unique flair. I had the pleasure of dining at the Crown Grill, Sabatini’s, and Da Vinci’s. The Crown Grill serves up delicious steaks and seafood in an elegant setting, while Sabatini’s offers an authentic taste of Italy with its gourmet Italian dishes. Da Vinci’s provides an intimate dining experience with a focus on fine dining.

In addition to these, the Ruby Princess also features the Salty Dog Grill for mouth-watering burgers, the Crab Shack known for its delectable king crab and other fresh seafood dishes, and other casual dining spots like the Horizon Court buffet and the International Café for quick bites and snacks. With such a wide array of dining options, every meal on the Ruby Princess is a delightful culinary journey.

Alaskan Cruise Exciting Shore Excursions

The Ruby Princess offers a wide range of shore excursions that allow you to fully immerse yourself in the Alaskan wilderness. One of my favorite excursions was a helicopter ride to the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau, where we had the chance to walk on the glacier and learn about its formation and history. Following that, we enjoyed a delicious salmon bake at Gold Creek, which was a true Alaskan culinary delight. Another unforgettable experience was a guided hike in Haines along the Battery Point Hiking Trail, which offered breathtaking views and a chance to connect with nature.

In Ketchikan, I was thrilled by the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show and the fascinating Totem forest walk. Each excursion was well-organized and provided a unique and thrilling perspective of Alaska’s natural beauty. Onboard Activities and Entertainment

There’s never a dull moment on the Ruby Princess, with a plethora of activities and entertainment options to keep you busy. During the day, we enjoyed lounging by the pool, taking part in fitness classes, and indulging in treatments at the Lotus Spa. The evenings were filled with dazzling performances at the Princess Theater, including Broadway-style shows, comedy acts, and live music. Additionally, the Piazza was a vibrant hub of activity, offering live music, impromptu performances, and a lively atmosphere that kept the energy high throughout the day and night.

The MedallionClass Ruby Princess Experience

One of the standout features of my cruise was the MedallionClass experience. Each guest receives a wearable medallion that enhances the cruise experience with personalized services. From keyless stateroom entry and on-demand food and drink delivery to interactive maps and seamless boarding, the Medallion made everything incredibly convenient and enjoyable.

Stunning Scenery

Of course, the true star of the cruise was the breathtaking Alaskan scenery. Cruising through the Inside Passage, we were treated to views of towering glaciers, lush forests, and rugged coastlines. The highlight was Glacier Bay National Park, where we spent a day marveling at the massive glaciers and listening to the thunderous sounds of ice calving into the water. It was a humbling and awe-inspiring experience that I’ll never forget. For more details on this incredible place, check out my post on Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve.
