The Elevador de Santa Justa is a 19th-century vertical lift that connects the lower streets of Baixa to the higher district of Carmo. Originally steam-powered, it’s now electric and fully operational as both a practical lift and a tourist must-see. The elevator is a national monument and one of the few remaining public lifts in Europe of its kind still in use!
