Cascais is one of those places where every step feels like a postcard. During my visit in December, the town was sprinkled with festive cheer—twinkling lights, holiday decor, and that cozy wintery vibe that makes everything feel a little more magical. I strolled through vibrant alleyways, dipped my toes in the Atlantic, admired the beautiful buildings, and let myself get swept up in the town’s relaxed, seaside rhythm. Wander & Wonder
The best way to experience Cascais is to simply wander. I spent my morning weaving through the town’s charming mosaic-paved streets, where every turn felt like uncovering a secret. The buildings, with their faded pastel façades and ornate balconies, looked like something out of a coastal film set. I couldn’t help but pause every few steps to snap photos, soak in the atmosphere, and admire the artistry of the traditional azulejos (tiles) that adorned so many doorways.
At one point, I ducked into a tiny bookstore with creaky wooden floors and the scent of old paper—it felt like a little treasure trove tucked between the more modern storefronts. I also stumbled upon a boutique selling handmade ceramics, and yes, I brought home a painted espresso cup that now reminds me of this perfect day.
